I was born with CP, I had 2 surgeries and 21 years of physical therapy.  It was hard to feel like you belonged to a group.  I decided to become a nurse to overcome my insecurities.  It was the best thing I could have done for myself.  It opened my eyes to how many people have health issues, and reminded me not to feel sorry for myself. My health was good at 45 years old.  I decided to take karate; it helped me a lot with having confidence and balance.  I was able to do a lot more things than I realized.  I became an instructor, taught classes, and enjoyed teaching the little kids.  They were so cute and eager to learn.  I did that for 15 years.  Work got so busy that, I could no longer keep it up, so I stopped.  I was a 3D Black Belt.  After a few years, I started losing my balance again, and had frequent falls.  I started to become discouraged.  I started lying on the couch and eating a lot.  I gained a lot of weight and became depressed.  I retired last February, and visited my sister in May for 2 weeks.  She gave me advice to get back on track and lose weight.  I started on the spark diet, returned to the health club full time, and after a few months I started losing weight and my balance had improved.  In the last few weeks I hired a personal trainer who helped me out a lot.  I feel so happy about the progress I had made.  I realize that fitness is a lifetime goal, where I have to keep on going and can not quit.  I am so grateful to all of my friends, instructors, and personal trainers who were so helpful and caring.  Having so much support is great.  We all need to help each other at times.  I am grateful to belong to Cleveland Health & Fitness where people care.  Thank you all so much.

My name is Ann.  I joined Cleveland Health & Fitness in January and signed up for 16 weeks.  When I joined, I knew this was going to be a day by day commitment.  I WAS READY!  I had been struggling with my weight for quite some time now.  I needed to make a change in my lifestyle.  At 54 I realized that I needed to start a whole new chapter with my life.  I was concentrating on what would make me happy and healthy, and it all spelled out weight loss.  As I began this journey, I made it a point to exercise 3 to 4 times a week doing cardio, weights, and following a low calorie diet.  I tracked my weight daily from the first week I began.  As I started to loose weight, it only gave me more of an incentive to keep digging my heels in.  I was losing weight weekly.  Starting to see a change in inches, I knew that this was the best decision that I could have ever made for myself.  Knowing where I was, and where I am today is amazing, and I’m not done yet.  I came here wanting to loose at least 50 lbs; I am currently down 44 lbs.  I went from a size 16-18 to a size 10.  I continue to exercise 3 to 4 times a week, watching what I eat as well.  I know that I am where I’m at because of hard work and commitment; that is all that it takes to be successful.  If I had a question about anything I was doing with my workout, the staff was very helpful and supportive.  Anyone can do it if they put your mind to it.  Just take one day at a time, that is all there is to it.  The ending result is the best feeling ever.  It was all worth it.  To everyone who has helped me down this journey.  Thank you so very much……………………………….

Let me start out by saying that joining Cleveland Health & Fitness Gym is one of the best things I could have ever done for myself.  Taking part in the 16 week testimonial study allowed me the opportunity to cultivate a positive schedule designed for “me.” Cleveland Health & Fitness can accommodate everyone no matter how busy their schedule is because the gym is open seven days a week.  Being new to a “gym environment,” I had many questions.  The staff was very friendly and supportive answering all of my questions. Cleveland Health & Fitness offers something for everyone.  You can join any of many different exercise programs including kickboxing, spin, or follow your own program. What I did discover is that exercising is always a work in progress……..Cleveland Health & Fitness gives you the tools needed to lead a healthy life by staying fit!

Struggling with weight issues all your life isn’t a great feeling.  I’ve tried just about every diet pill, get slim quick diet, and not to mention when all else failed, I made every excuse not to get in shape.  Being a wife with two boys and a full time job doesn’t seem like there is enough time in the day to worry about exercise or getting in shape.  One afternoon I came across a postcard from Cleveland Health & Fitness for a weight loss program.  For once I thought to myself and said “This is the first day of the rest of my life.”  I joined the program a few months ago and have never been happier.  The staff is very nice and always there to answer any of my questions that I have.  I was shown how to use all the equipment, and what each was used for.  I was also given a web site that I could go to for my dietary needs which was very helpful.  I’ve learned a lot about diet, exercise, and not to mention myself.  Getting into a routine is very hard at first, but once you get used to it, you are well on your way, and it becomes a part of your everyday life.  I wake up a little earlier to go to the gym and I’m back in time to get the kids ready and off for the day.  This way I don’t feel guilty about not being home at night spending time with the family, especially during the crazy school days when there is homework to be done.  Since starting the program I’ve lost 15 lbs the healthy way, and I plan to stay on track working harder to better myself every day.
